Donkey Hotelier (Trump), Sancho Pauncho (Giuliani), and Dullsinner (Jenna Ellis) are on an epic quest. Not a noble one, like Don Quixote’s, but rather an inglorious quest for Trump votes, which have proven no less elusive than the object of the imaginary nobleman’s pursuit. Instead of seeking the affections of an out-of-reach beauty, they are seeking ugliness – an end to the presidential election in a way that perverts our democratic norms and processes and re-installs a vainglorious, villainous criminal on the seat of power.
Naturally, chivalry is unheard of in this modern mission. Self-aggrandizement is the cherished “virtue.” Instead of seeking to “defend the helpless and destroy the wicked,” this unholy trio seeks to destroy the helpless and help the wicked. However, they do share several things in common with the original quixotic quest. They are all delusional, severely detached from reality, and impervious to rational argument and actual evidence. And, of course, both Dons tilt at windmills.
