It seems like ages ago, White House Chief of Staff riled up his boss by claiming that President Trump’s views on building The Wall along the southern border were uninformed and evolving. Trump immediately took to Twitter to denounce the claim that his views could ever evolve to accommodate things like facts and political realities.
People think he drew the concept of the wall out of thin air, but new information from campaign records shows where he got the idea from. Even more surprising, it shows he watches TV beyond Fox News and CNN.
Trump was inspired by another nation’s wall that protects its northern border with “a colossal fortification” that spans the entire length of the border, “defending the realm from the wildlings who live beyond,” as recounted by Wikipedia. That dovetailed perfectly with Trump’s view of why we need to protect the U.S. southern border. Here is an early rendering of his Wall:

He wanted to follow the original plans of constructing a Wall that is “over 700 feet tall and [] made of solid ice.” http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wall. He especially liked the idea of making it out of ice, in tribute to the thousands of ICE agents “who’ve had their hands tied for years, preventing them to do their jobs effectively.”

Aides questioned how an ice wall could be built in, much less withstand, the scorching temperatures of southern Texas, Arizona, and the California desert.
Because of his staff’s skepticism about constructing a full scale Wall stretching across the entire southern border, Trump has turned to outside help that has experience in defending the border in conjunction with just such a wall.

Trump also planned to beef up security forces along the wall, by supplementing ICE agents with the Sworn Brothers of the Night’s Watch, who are noted for their fierce loyalty and fighting capabilities.

He also expects to make Castle White–not White Castle,

or Castle Black the headquarters/garrison for the new troops.
