Donald Trump has stirred up a hornet’s nest by taking a protest against racial injustice in the country and attempting to distort it into a sign of disrespect towards America and our fighting forces. Here is a primer in how he views proper way to honor the flag.
First, he is a strong proponent of diversity. He strongly believes we should honor not only the American flag, but also the Russian flag, the Confederate flag, and the Nazi flag.
Second, although the FAKE MEDIA tries to portray him as a simpleton who holds only simplistic views of the world, he actually has a very nuanced view of proper flag respect, recognizing subtle distinctions that are lost on others:
— He perceives that kneeling, a gesture that ordinarily implies the greatest reverence and respect (picture churchgoers kneeling at the communion rail or a prospective knight kneeling before the Queen), is really a sign of total disrespect in this instance;
— He discerns that kneeling to protest police brutality and injustice is, in actuality, a deliberate slight to the men (and OK, women) who honorably serve, or have honorably served, our great nation in the military,
— While simultaneously asserting that carrying, displaying and honoring the so-called Confederate battle flag that supposedly was carried into actual battle against the magnificent fighting forces of the United States military, does not convey any disrespect to American service men and women.
— In fact, he holds up a sports culture tied to the Confederate flag, and at whose events the Confederate flag is often displayed (NASCAR), as exemplary in how American patriots should honor the flag and American serviceman and women.
Finally, he asserts that foreign athletes (Usain Bolt, NHL players) are the models to look up to in determining what is proper and what is improper conduct with respect to American rights and responsibilities.
Is that clear?
