For those wondering what a Trump presidency might be like, compared to the Trump campaign, a look at the sorrowful tale of the Trump University experience might prove instructive. It seems to serve as a microcosm for campaign and beyond. It appears that Trump U., promised the moon but delivered way less. Sound familiar? Is Trump, D. like Trump U.?
There are certain similarities. The gross exaggeration, and promises of untold riches and winning. If a non-believer raises issues — attack them — they must be bad. The Trump University. case judge is a “hater,” and is “believed to be a Mexican.” (If so, he should be very smart, much smarter than our leaders — after all, those Mexicans are cleaning our clock!) Most recently Trump’s attacks on reporters for raising questions about where the money went from his fundraiser for veterans.
Trump U. promotions are somewhat reminiscent of snake oil salesman — and snake oil originally came from China!!! (But theirs actually had some therapeutic benefits.
“It’s odd that Stephen Hawking would attack me. I love Hawking,” Trump said, to a startled audience, not used to him graciously accepting criticism. “I love hawking my seminar and my materials on how to get rich off of my real estate techniques!”
“A few disgruntled former students are trying to say that the university was fake. It dealt with real estate — not fake estate, so it is real! (Speaking of which, I love Israel. No one supports the Jews like I do.) In fact, in my career, I have run the gamut from real estate to reality TV! And now, it’s time to face realty!”
As hard as it now may be to believe, before his reality show and his iconic real estate developments in Manhattan, Donald Trump was not the most famous person living in New York City. That title belonged either to Jackie Kennedy Onassis or John Lennon. The latter wrote a song (while he was still living in England) called Gimme Some Truth that was released in 1971 that eerily captures American politics circa 2016.
I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truthNo short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for ropeI’m sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama’s little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth nowI’ve had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now

But rather than following the path of Lennon and seek the truth, Trump seems much more inclined to follow Jack “You Can’t Handle the Truth” Nicholson in A Few Good Men:
The question now is, what — and how much — can the American public handle?
